Northleigh House was home to Viv and Fred Morgan up until 2012, but after hearing all too many stories of the consequences of bullying, the exclusion of children from mainstream education, and in some cases much worse, they made the decision to set up a school and sanctuary for these children in their own home.
This was a monumental undertaking involving a tremendous amount of hard work from the Morgan’s and the amazing team at Northleigh but also the wider community whose support has been instrumental in creating the school we see today.
“Northleigh have been instrumental in helping my child who was terrified of the normal school environment. He is calmer, able to communicate and happy to go to school each day”
Viv was presented with an MBE for Services to Education by Prince William in Spring 2019, after being nominated in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List.
In 2015 Viv & Fred won the special recognition award at The Pride of Britain. Viv & Fred were presented their award onstage by Bruce Forsyth.
“Northleigh is a child-led setting – we get to choose our timetables and learn at our pace. It is so relaxed and flexible here so I can reach my goals. In mainstream I wasn’t able to because it wasn’t flexible at all.”

“I waited two years to get my place at Northleigh because the waiting list is so big. I wouldn’t like other young people to have to wait so long.”

“At Northleigh, I can be myself without being judged. The teachers treat me as an individual and they have adapted to my needs. Northleigh is so much calmer than a mainstream setting.”
