Northleigh House School Annual Report
Our objective is to continue to create a learning environment that enables our young people to achieve their true potential.
We are committed to the continued professional development of our staff and the constant expansion of our teaching resources in line with current thinking and research. This is essential in order to support our main aim of raising our students’ self esteem, assisting them to regain their confidence and working with them to develop anxiety minimising strategies.
During the past twelve months, administration, curriculum development, overflow parking, catering and dining facilities have been completed as a result of support provided by volunteers, fund raising groups and grants from various trusts and organisations. A new Reception office has been completed which complies with Exam Centre Criteria and alongside this, the garden room is open for counselling, teaching and meetings and a grass substitute will be laid on the sports pitch when funds allow.
The school is at current pupil capacity with a waiting list for the next academic year, and we receive a number of enquiries on a weekly basis from parents, schools and Local Authorities.
Annual running costs and staff salaries are partly funded by fees. Income has increased and, although there is still some way to go, we are now in a more secure position than last year.
The progress of our students is closely monitored, and our driving aim is to continue providing a high standard of academic and social and emotional education which will enable our young people to take their place in society as well rounded and successful individuals. Our Year 11 leavers are all taking their places in further education, with one having already secured a paid apprenticeship with guaranteed paid employment upon successful completion.
We are grateful to the many individuals and organisations who support the school. The voluntary support on a day to day basis, and the income from our supporters, is crucial in ensuring that we continue to develop and provide the highest quality education and therapy for our students.
