In January 2026, Northleigh House School proudly expanded with the opening of its second secondary school site, Northleigh Mill School. This new setting will reflect the high standards, ethos, and approach of Northleigh House School, with a dedicated team of staff committed to delivering the same exceptional provision at Northleigh Mill.
Northleigh Mill is a independent mixed secondary school for pupils aged 11 to 19, specifically designed to support vulnerable young people who are unable to access mainstream education. The school will provide a nurturing, structured, and supportive environment where students can thrive both academically and personally.
Situated on a plot of over one acre, Northleigh Mill School is located on the same road as the existing Northleigh House School, making it a rare and ideal location that allows both sites to remain in close proximity. The setting offers a calm and peaceful atmosphere, surrounded by nature, with a private walled garden for students to enjoy, reflect, and learn in a tranquil outdoor space.
The school is proposed to accommodate a maximum of 35 pupils. The team will consist of approximately 10 full-time staff members and 15 part-time staff, ensuring a flexible and responsive staffing structure. Not all staff will be present at all times, with some part-time teachers attending for specific days each week, allowing for a tailored and specialist approach to learning.
The expansion of Northleigh reflects our long-standing ambition to grow beyond the physical limitations of our current site, which has restricted the number of children we can support at any one time. We are excited to see the school continue to flourish and, most importantly, to welcome more students than ever before through Northleigh’s doors.
“What is offered at Northleigh House is both remarkable and very hard to find anywhere else in the area.”
“I am thrilled and excited about this new chapter of Northleigh history”
“We have been looking for a suitable place for a second Northleigh school for several years now and to find one on our doorstep is fantastic. We are excited to open the doors to our new starters.”

“Northleigh is a child-led setting – we get to choose our timetables and learn at our pace. It is so relaxed and flexible here so I can reach my goals. In mainstream I wasn’t able to because it wasn’t flexible at all.”

“I waited two years to get my place at Northleigh because the waiting list is so big. I wouldn’t like other young people to have to wait so long.”

“At Northleigh, I can be myself without being judged. The teachers treat me as an individual and they have adapted to my needs. Northleigh is so much calmer than a mainstream setting.”
